About Me (old)

Ninja

That’s me, hiding behind a sword and some Photoshopping. I am a ninja in my spare time.

Biography: I grew up in Minnesota. After I finished college, I came to the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri in January 2006 for the six-month One Thing Internship. I am now on staff with IHOP. I work full-time as an editor, but my real job is as an intercessory missionary: I am in the prayer room twelve hours per week, praying, studying, and ministering to the L-rd. In addition, I serve on a prophecy team. (Note to potential stalkers: yes, I am easy to find. But I own several weapons and will use them without hesitation on you. Unless you are Dave Sliker, in which case I will laugh hysterically and then proceed to comment-spam your blog.)

Eccentricities:

  1. I can be easily bribed with chocolate.
  2. I abhor chick flicks and love wire-fu movies.
  3. I am a grammar Nazi and a walking dictionary, annoying and assisting (respectively) all around me.
  4. I like birds.
  5. I like swords. And staffs, short and long. And polearms. And guns. Pretty much any kind of weapon, actually.
  6. My fellow interns nicknamed me the Mighty Duck, a.ka. Ducky. (Said nickname does not refer to the Disney movies nor the Land Before Time)
  7. I am asocial at heart and believe that silence is a virtue, but at home I can be found slinging sarcastic witticisms at the slightest provocation.
  8. I occasionally write poetry.
  9. I believe that cereal may be eaten any time of the day or night.
  10. I fully embrace my geekiness (geekdom? Geekhood? Geek ethos?) and can, upon request,
    • Explain in detail how a black hole works and differentiate between the various kinds of black holes;
    • Discourse at length upon Charlie Parker’s impact on jazz;
    • Discuss the concept of the center line in martial arts and whether Wing Chun Kung Fu has a real-world application in street fighting; and
    • Ramble about “that” vs. “which” and the usage of commas in restrictive and non-restrictive clauses.

Proclivities: I can most often be found (1) at work, (2) in the prayer room, (3) at home working, or (4) at home praying. I don’t get out much. :-D

Identity: I am holiness to the L-rd, a priest and king to Him, someone who comes before His throne and asks Him for His own heart’s desires. I am His kid, His Bride, and a daughter of Israel. Don’t mess with me or He’ll tear you to shreds.

    Hey, Ducky…ever since we learned about your nickname, Shannon and I (especially Shannon) have been seeing a TON of duck stuff that looks so “you”.

    And your profile is great, minus the fact that you did not mention anything about the puppies.

    Curious – are you a Messianic Jew by any chance? Just noticing your reverence for the L-rd’s name (and I’m not BTW, just being deferential if you are :) ).

    Yep…I should probably add that fact to my bio.

    Wow when I wrote the comment to you in repsonse of the Spirit of the Nazarite, I had no idea of your connection with IHOP. What a small world. I am affiliated with Morningstar Ministires, a MFM member and past student. I recently spoke to a lady named Mary Jean in the copyight department at IHOP. I was requesting permission to use Misty Edwards song I will run on my website. Anyway….maybe too much info, I just thought how neat! I googled spirit of the nazarite and saw your write up. Blessings

    “I am a grammar Nazi and a walking dictionary, annoying and assisting (respectively) all around me.”

    I appreciate this gift and I to am a writer who needs much help with grammar and format. I have extravagant ideas and am very creative but sometimes I loose the focus of what I am trying to say with bad grammar….so maybe you could help? You just commented on my blog( the pink suit). Feel free to pick apart and analyze my writing, I am not offended, it will help me grow as a writer(also why I blog).
